In life, often you find mentors to guide you towards the right path and to help train you for what’s needed to get to the final destination. We start with our parents to help us out, and then we have our siblings to help us navigate our social lives. A life coach can also help for a wide range of issues.
But do you need one? Many of us are hesitant to accept such assistance because we’re supposed to stand on our own two feet as we face the challenges in our lives. Yet we have accountants to help us figure our taxes, lawyers to represent us in court and give legal advice, and doctors to tell us what medicines to take for our condition.
Here are some signs that may indicate you need a life coach as well:
You’re Always Worried about the Decisions You Make
As we go through life we make decisions every day. Some choices can be tough though, especially if you’re deciding whether to quit your job, move to a new city, or choose the right major in university.
You may need a life coach if for these significant decisions you can’t seem to make up your mind. A life coach can talk it out with you to determine what you want so you’re confident in whatever decision you make.
You Find Yourself Always Talking About Your Problems
Are your friends avoiding you? Maybe it’s because you keep on harping about your problems over and over again. It’s one thing to gripe about the things in your life, but it’s another thing to whine to your friends. Sometimes they want to enjoy their night out, but you make it impossible for them to do so.
Life coaching can help, as it’s a life coach’s job to listen to you complain. What’s more, he or she is trained to help you deal with these problems so that you can move forward. A life coach can help you keep friends from avoiding you.
You’re Worried All the Time
Do you remember what it was like when you felt carefree and relaxed? If you can’t remember that far back, then perhaps it’s time to get a life coach to get you back on track. It’s true that life is always full of new problems, but a life coach can help you get that natural confidence you once possessed years ago.
You’ve Gained a Bit of Weight Recently
Food is often a comfort for many people. After all, food doesn’t judge and eating gives instant gratification. But overeating and lack of exercise may be masking worries and stress that you don’t know how to deal with properly. Food is not the best way to deal with stress.
The same goes if you find yourself drinking more alcohol than usual, or if you’re trying out illegal recreational drugs. You may think that you’re just trying to relax, but you’re digging yourself into a deeper hole. A life coach can help you get out of that rut and find better ways to deal.
You Never Date Anymore
If you’ve given up on romance and it’s been years since you last dated, then a life coach can help. People aren’t built to stay alone, and a life coach can help you find the courage and determination to get romance back into your life.
You Struggle with Anxiety and/or Depression
Any one of the situations mentioned above can bring on feelings of anxiety and/or depression. In fact, many anxiety disorders are linked to depression therefore it’s important to treat both at the same time. Dealing with any kind of anxiety can make you feel like you’re walking through life in a permanently agitated state, which can weigh very heavily on you and affect every aspect of your life. A life coach can help you identify some of your main triggers and help you navigate this territory. A life coach can also help you figure out if these feelings are related to your situation or are caused by a mental health disorder that requires treatment. If you know or you think that you have a mental health disorder, accepting help from a qualified professional is your first step to feeling like yourself again.
